What is an Australian Apprenticeship Centre?

Apprentices and trainees need to be registered (in the state of their employment) to receive the right training and the employer receives the right assistance, including incentives. Our federal government has appointed agencies known as Australian Apprenticeship Centres (AAC) to do this. The process is referred to as Australian Apprenticeships.

The AAC is an organisation that can provide the services of a 'one stop shop' for prospective employers and Australian apprentices. All services that they offer are free of cost. There are competitive providers in all regions and the nearest selection of provider is available through the computer link below.

The organisations are responsible for all commonwealth and state documentation necessary for an employer to engage an apprentice or trainee. AAC'S can:

  • promote apprenticeships and traineeships to industry;
  • provide general information and advice on apprenticeships and traineeships options;
  • assist with the selection of a relevant a registered training organisation;
  • the provision of advice on eligibility requirements for financial incentives and how to apply for them;
  • assist with the lodgment claims for financial incentives; and
  • help the development and lodgment of the training contract.
